Museum of Cornish Life's Serpentine Turner's Workshop has been nominated for an award at the Cornwall Heritage Awards.

The nomination is for the Object of the Year honour.

It recognises a workshop that was donated by the family of the late Mr Vivian Bosustow, a competent serpentine turner from Church Cove.

A museum spokesperson said: "We are delighted that our Serpentine Turner's Workshop has been nominated for Object of the Year at the Cornwall Heritage Awards".

Mr Vivian Bosustow was heavily involved in every stage of serpentine product creation, from quarrying the rock to fine finishing and the sale process.

The winner will be selected by a public vote.

Serpentine is a rare rock mineral found predominantly on the Lizard peninsula, utilised to create items including bowls, sculptures, and jewellery.

Despite its fluctuating popularity, having been used by humans worldwide for over 30,000 years, crafting with serpentine remains a skilled craft in Cornwall.
